I thought this was a great idea, until I used it. What a waste of time! A regular measuring spoon is faster to use 99% of the time, much faster to clean 100% of the time, and much, much less costly. This adjustable spoon is awkwardly shaped, making spices, salt, baking powder and whatnot tricky to measure quickly. You have to scoop up the ingredients and then carefully set your knife on top of the scoop in front of the sliding thing and then even the surface that way. With a real spoon, you just wipe it off against the box/canister top (baking soda/powder) or swipe a butter knife over the top to level it off.
Then dumping the ingredients is even a hassle. The adjustable slide thing can't be used for pushing out product since it doesn't go the length of the scoop, always leaving a little bit at the end that you have to swipe out with your finger anyway.
Adjustable is fine, but you'll have to clean this dumb thing out between wet ingredients and it's a hassle every time. The... Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars Works well but becomes quite tarnished after regular washing, May 21, 2009

Overall this is a great product. I enjoy having a single spoon that can measure between 1/2 teaspoon and a tablespoon because it takes up much less drawer space. Because if this it is perfect for someone like me who adores cooking but has a small kitchen.

There are only a couple of drawbacks to the product. The first is that if you wash it in the dishwasher it becomes quite tarnished over time. I typically use Cascade Gel Packs and this is one of the few products I have noticed that this has happened to. I regularly also wash my all clad pots and pans and several other items in the dishwasher and this is the only product it has happened to. It is still very much useable but is pretty unsightly looking and also has acquired a rough texture.

It's also not necessarily more convenient than having separate measuring spoons because there is a lot of washing involved. If I am making something like a dessert where I know I will be measuring out a lot of small... Read more

I love these! they are perfect for small measures (spices, etc), but I have not tried them with liquids. And best of all, no more keeping rings of measuring spoons (or loose ones) in the drawer. Just remove the slider before putting both pieces in the dishwasher.
